*There will be no club meeting on Tues., Feb. 14th; next meeting in March.  Take your sweetheart to dinner!

Dixie Iron Tractor Club opened the 2012 pulling season on a beautiful "spring" day in January at Booneville, MS at the Prentiss Co. AgriCenter!  The Dixie Thunder Sled hooked 127 regular hooks and 10 for the kids on Little Miss Allis!  There were 45 registered tractors and pullers.   Several new members joined the club and lots of spectators enjoyed the action.  A great pull to start off a great year!

A cold, rainy day couldn't keep the good pulling down as Dixie Iron put on its first show at the Lee Co. AgriCenter in Verona, MS on February 4!  What else was there to do on such a nasty day?  And certainly no one stuck indoors had as much fun as we did!!  There were 157 regular hooks for 58 registered tractors and pullers.  Little Miss Allis provided 14 kids' hooks.  Branson Tractor was there to display their line of tractors and were nice enough to provide multiple door prizes for the spectators and pullers.  The Gregg family of Antique Puller magazine were on hand to capture the excitement in photographs.  After 9 hours of tractor pulling, the fog rolled in, rolled out, and we all rolled on home!

This year, DI has added King of the Hill classes which are drawn at the drivers' meeting to determine the weight/engine class for the three competitions.  Those classes are 100% payback and the pullers are having a lot of fun in them.  Keep checking back as we will be updating the pulling schedule.  We are looking forward to a great year of pulling and fellowship with family and friends!  The Dixie Thunder sled has a new paint job and is ready to roll!  Everyone is invited to join us as pullers or spectators!   Come have some good old country fun!!

Dixie Iron welcomes all pullers and spectators.

New members are always welcome!  Membership dues are $40 per year.

Dust off your Pre-1960 tractors and come see what all the fun is about!

Dixie Iron's Future is in our Young People

Dixie Iron Tractor Club is very lucky to have so many young people who are very active in our club.  They range in age from 6 to 19!!  Since the purpose of our club is "to promote and preserve antique tractors and engines and public awareness of the same", these young folks will carry that torch forward. There are twelve young people, both boys and girls, who regularly compete in the pull, as well as, work in various club jobs at the pull.  Some of the jobs they fill include working registration and trophies, helping with the Kids' Pull, working the track, hook on the sled, unpacking and packing the club at each pull, and running communications from the trailer to the scales and sled.  We couldn't do what we do and put on a quality tractor pull without their help!   This is very much a family sport and our Dixie Iron family continues to grow.

The outstanding young people of Dixie Iron get involved with the club because of parents, grandparents, uncles, and neighbors, but they choose to stay with it as a hobby because of the closeness and encouragement of the members and because they appreciate and enjoy their rural heritage.  We have watched several of them grow into young adults and have seen an even younger generation join them at the pulls.  There is no doubt that the family atmosphere and friendships within the club provide a safe, comfortable place for them to hang out!

I have listed the names of the future of Dixie Iron and hope I got their ages right:

Drake Carmical 6, Bryce Harville 6, Ethan Smith 7, Kye Roberts 11, Krystal Simmons 12,  Victoria Jones 13, Jeffery Holt 14, Jason Rice 14, Jonah Jones 15, Josh Jones 18, Karlee Livingston 17, and Amos Kitchens 19. We so appreciate all of you!!  You do Dixie Iron proud!!

The newest attraction for the club is Little Miss Allis and the Kids' Pull.  A 1955 Allis Chalmers WD45, on loan from the Gary Kitchens family has been fitted with a bus seat. Thanks to Keith Livingston and John Ray Roberson, the tractor has been made more kid friendly for the youngsters learning to pull.  The larger seat allows an adult to ride with them, but let them steer during a real pull down the track.  We have 12 to 25 kids or more at every pull, lining up to take their turn at the wheel!  We hope that sparking this interest with the children and their families will add to the future of our club.

Dixie Iron Inc. was formed March 1, 1997 as a corporation. The purpose of this organization is to promote and preserve antique tractors and engines and public awareness of the same.
